4 Ways to Showcase Your Work and Win More Business

minute read

Behind every business is a great story and it’s this unique story that makes you memorable and trustworthy to potential customers. It’s also the key to really useful and effective marketing when you tell your story in the right way.

The story that you tell to your customers can manifest in many different ways, but ultimately you are communicating where you came from, what you’ve done, who you’ve made happy, and most importantly, what value and quality you have to offer going forward.

The internet makes it possible to tell your story to more people in more ways than ever before. In fact, communicating your company’s value and quality is one of the most cost-effective ways to win new business and retain existing customers.

These are just four ways you can showcase your work and win more customers.

1. Use your website as your stage

The first place for you to tell your story is on your business website as it’s a channel where you have complete control. Use it to share case studies with quotes from happy customers, which will help increase trust in your brand and products. If you’re a restaurant, B&B, bar or similar business you can also add a Tripadvisor widget to your website, which allows you to show off any great reviews you’ve received through that platform. Find out how to add a widget here.

Make sure you take plenty of photos of your business, products or projects that you are working on too, so that you can collate these into a photo gallery on your website that visitors can browse through. All of these things will help encourage new customers to buy from you.

2. Share your success on social media

If you’ve already set up social media accounts, for example on Facebook or Twitter, this is also a fantastic platform upon which to showcase the good work you’re doing. Be sure to share updates that appeal to your specific audience, whether that’s a beautiful image of a new product, or a snippet from a positive customer review. Sharing high quality photos and videos with interesting captions is a great way to engage with your followers.

You can also add a Tripadvisor app to your Facebook business page, which will display review snippets, photos and any awards you have achieved. If you’re not the right type of business for Trip Advisor, Facebook have their own ratings you can add to your page.

Giving context to your work will make it more memorable so that next time someone needs a service you provide, your business will be the first that comes to mind.

3. Make it personal with email marketing

72% of customers would prefer companies to keep in touch with them via email than any other method (Litmus, 2015), and it’s true that email is a powerful and personal way to directly connect with them.

Using email marketing software like MailChimp, SendinBlue or Constant Contact is an inexpensive way to stay connected to your subscribers. Even if you only send one email a month, it’s a good way to keep your business at the forefront of your readers’ minds and to provide them with engaging updates of your recent work.

4. Make it newsworthy with your local paper

If you think your business’s story is newsworthy, your local newspaper may be interested in sharing it with their readers. The best way to let them know about it is to write a press release and email it to a member of the press. Remember to consider your audience when writing this - local journalists love receiving stories about strong community spirit so think about how you can appeal to local readers. For example if you’re a B2B company, write about how you worked with a local company to increase their sales and include a quote from them. If you’re a local recruitment agency, talk about how you helped an unemployed mum in the local area find a job to transform her family’s life. If you install stairlifts you can talk around how you gave an elderly couple a new lease of life. Where possible, always include a high quality photo to add a visual element to your story and make it more appealing.

Showcasing your work is an extremely effective way to tell the story of your business. Making the most of your own communication channels is the ideal way to make your story known to your audience, encouraging them to think of your business as trustworthy and valuable. Using the four methods above is a winning formula to showcase your work and, ultimately, to win more customers.
